ABOUT NANCE HAXTON
Nance Haxton, The Wandering Journo, has proven her excellent reporting track record over more than two decades with a range of Australian and international honours for her powerful storytelling. From Quest cadet to ABC reporter, Nance is a twice Walkey award winner and all heart. The Wandering Journo, Nance is Arts Writer for online publication In Queensland, as well as producing regular podcast series such as Keeping Kids Safe – A Bright Futures podcast for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation , and other intermittent projects. Her indie podcast series Streets of Your Town is an audio slice of Australian life, highlighting the people she meets while travelling around this wide brown land in Mildred, her cantankerous VW kombi. The series has just clocked over 100 episodes and has included interviews with ordinary everyday incredible Australians as well as esteemed actors, journalists, and politicians. As well as her freelance journalism projects, Nance has extended her storytelling with the organisation Speaking Up For You (SUFY) by working as an advocate for the Disability Royal Commission, helping people with disability tell their stories of exploitation, violence, neglect or abuse to this once in a generation investigation.
