Freelance Jungle headquarters relocated from Sydney to the Illawarra in 2015. Since 2017, we’ve been proud to call the popular recreational fishing village and holiday suburb of Windang our home. Located 90 minutes drive from Sydney, Windang is connected to Wollongong  by land and Shellharbour council area by beautiful Lake Illawarra. If you come for a meeting in Windang, you can see the beach, walk the lake art trail, cycle the many bicycle paths or meet for a sensational coffee at the famed Oh Dang Espresso  or a cheeky wine at Club Windang, the local meeting place for live music, sports, and more. A place of significance to the local Wadi Wadi people, Windang means “scene of a fight” and was rumoured to be the place where locals met to fight out their disputes before rekindling their friendship over an afternoon of fishing. It is also the home of the Dreamtime legend that tells the story of the Starfish that tricked the Whale, making him so angry, he created Lake Illawarra with his rage. 

You can travel to Windang via the Premier Illawarra bus routes 37, 43, 51, 53 & 57 on the Berkeley, Warrawong & Port Kembla District bus timetable. It’s also an easy drive 15 minute drive from Wollongong CBD or 25 minutes from Kiama.
