Do you love the idea of a deadline party? Hmmm… let me ask this another way.
Do you love the cool breeze of a deadline on your face as it goes whizzing by? Not really? Me either.
That’s why the Freelance Jungle Patreon presents our first ever DEADLINE PARTY!
We like to think that missing deadlines doesn’t mess with our creative process. But they can and they do. We always have something we want to do, try, learn, create or launch… but there’s something else that’s always more important to be done. We end up with a bottleneck of creativity that torments and haunts us. Our ideas only finding themselves gaining air in rare moments or when someone says something at a dinner party that gives us a lead-in to describe our hidden dream.
NO MORE! It’s time to change your relationship with that cool thing you never get to.
A deadline party is aimed at keeping you accountable. We’re utilising the hairy eyeballs of your peers as well as turning it into a little online theatre at the same time.
Think of it as a celebration of all the cool, creative things we can do but often put off. But won’t put off because we’ve made a contract with ourselves to complete the project.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A DEADLINE PARTY?
1) You have a creative, side hustle or freelance project or idea you want to complete
2) You sign up to present that idea at the deadline party. You talk us through the idea, what was involved, and what you achieved
3) The deadliners check in on each other on Slack in a mastermind style environment
4) You use 6 weeks on the project
5) You present your project in a virtual event in 5 – 10 mins / 5 -10 slide format (or video if that appeals)
6) We party and celebrate each other’s creations

COUPLE OF LOOSE GUIDELINES TO KEEP IN MIND
1) There is no perfect, only progress. The idea is to aim to get high off the finishing of stages or the project rather than it being picture perfect.
2) It’s about stretching yourself. That means choosing something you avoid, procrastinate over, never find time for, or otherwise fail to spend time on
3) This isn’t about winning. It’s about celebrating creativity and action. It’s about getting over the hump and cheering people on
4) You can apply this to an aspect of your freelance business, a creative project, or side hustle that you want to do but never make time for
5) This is an accountability challenge. So, you have to be willing to commit to the 6 weeks and end result. It’s not about trying out new and interesting excuses to avoid your chosen project on the rest of us!
