Bring your highs and your lows, ask the answers you do not know and make all kinds of connections in the official online Facebook group for the Freelance Jungle. This group is available to all Australian freelancers and New Zealanders in self employment.
Why a closed Facebook group?
The Freelance Jungle is all about being able to provide help when you need it the most. But you probably don’t want to vent about a frustrating client or ask questions in front of just anyone. After attempting to build this on GooglePlus, the Freelance Jungle has thrived on Facebook as a private group. We have over 1400 members and an active brains trust of people willing to share all kinds of information.
Some of the significant differences between the Freelance Jungle Facebook group and other business groups on Facebook include:
It’s for freelancers by freelancers. Our group is designed to be a safe haven for freelancers who work for themselves and who regularly do contracts. So the focus is on making sure you can share what you need to among peers who get it
It’s focused on local freelancers. No one gets in without Rebekah or her co-admin, Nicole, ensuring that the person is actually a freelancer. We only accept Australian freelancers living locally or abroad and the odd Kiwi cousin.
Spam is actively discouraged. The Freelance Jungle is a community in the true sense of the word. It’s not somewhere to come and spray your links around in cyberspace in the hope of making a sale. While we don’t have heavy rules about promotion, we do expect participation.
The group is there for you. We understand the frustration of being stuck in tedious business groups where the aim is to flog the admin’s latest offering. The Freelance Jungle is about collaboration, sharing and bringing you quality opportunities, advice and support. Not self promotion.
The highs and lows are respected. Freelancing is a tough gig, but there are some great benefits and milestones as well. The Freelance Jungle Facebook group let’s you ask for help when you need it and relieve frustration. But we also aim to inspire you and foster resilience during the tough times too.
Oh, and we’re not tied to any paid membership, enrolment to a course, having to dance an Irish gig on a pogo stick or anything else to qualify.
